Toyota’s current CEO, Akio Toyoda, the grandson of the founder of Toyota, Kiichiro Toyoda, oversaw the development and production of many of these models, even before he was named the CEO of the company. Toyota had, under Akio’s leadership, reached new heights, and both the fanbase and model pallet grew larger and much more varied. Since he became the CEO back in 2009, Toyota has saturated the hybrid market that it itself kickstarted, and Toyota has continually been the leader in terms of sales when for both hybrids and petrol-powered cars for the past twenty years. Also, the brand even experienced a sort of renaissance under his leadership, as Toyota started making a couple of their legacy sportscars, like the Toyota Supra Mk5, and the GT86 and GR86, both of which are spiritual successors to the vastly popular AE86 Corolla, one of the first truly affordable Japanese enthusiast cars. All of these cars were massive hits, as Akio, who is a major gearhead himself, was also a seasoned racecar driver, and could therefore fully understand the market and what it wanted. However, Toyota has yet to conquer the world of EVs. Unfortunately for Toyota’s eager fans, the 66-year-old has been very quiet in the past when it comes to EVs and Toyota’s possible involvement in the EV market. Even though they’ve technically entered the market this April with the Toyota bZ4X, a single model won’t be enough to do any significant damage to their rivals. Not only that, but Toyota seems to primarily continue funding the development of their hybrid vehicles, seemingly with no intention of straying away from internal combustion engines anytime soon.

in today's video, we will take a look at the Toyota CEO's recent statement that shocked everyone

NOTE FROM TED: This talk only reflects the speaker's personal views and interpretation. Several claims in this talk lack scientific support. We've flagged this talk because it falls outside the content guidelines TED gives TEDx organizers. TEDx events are independently organized by volunteers. The guidelines we give TEDx organizers are described in more detail here: http://storage.ted.com/tedx/ma....nuals/tedx_content_g

This talk will challenge the popular perception that Battery Electric Vehicles (BEVs) are environmentally friendly, and will argue that we are inappropriately rushing the market introduction of these vehicles. BEVs are commonly sold under the guise of being ‘Zero Emissions,’ an assertion that is not true by any definition. Brake pads produce emissions, as do
tires and even interiors under sunlight. The electricity that powers BEVs is generated by power plants, 64% of which burn fossil fuels in the U.S.—fossil fuels that contribute to greenhouse gas emissions and global warming. Even more importantly, there are significant CO2 emissions
created during the manufacture of the battery pack, meaning that in order to offset the carbon created during the production process, a BEV must drive 40,000 - 100,000 miles before being environmentally comparable to a gasoline-powered vehicle. Hybrid vehicles, on the other hand,
which combine much smaller batteries with efficient internal combustion engines, have been shown to be a much better option for lowering global CO2. Unfortunately, they do not receive the same marketable ‘kudos’ or policy backing as full BEVs. We are headed down the wrong path by
rolling out BEVs before making the manufacturing and electricity generation CO2 neutral. Dr. Graham Conway is a Principal Engineer in the Automotive Division at Southwest Research Institute. For the last ten years he has been immersed in evaluating automotive technologies and consulting for car companies and suppliers. This gives him unique insights and perspectives on the industry. He is passionate about making vehicles more efficient to ensure the future of the planet and has a message to share about some common misconceptions about electric and non-electric vehicles. This talk was given at a TEDx event using the TED conference format but independently organized by a local community. Learn more at https://www.ted.com/tedx

Electric cars are cool. I’d buy one if I could only get the Tesla dealer to call me back.

But when it comes to the environment, electric cars aren’t even close to what activists and politicians promise.

In this video, I continue where part I left off, with 3 more inconvenient facts about electric cars.

Toyota is the king of internal combustion engine cars. However, the Japanese giant is
shifting from making fossil-fuel-powered cars because of their environmentally polluting
nature. This is why it has turned to a new type of fuel; hydrogen! Toyota has developed
a new hydrogen car that shocks the industry, but many in the buying public have many
questions like; what does Toyota's new hydrogen car offer? How does the new car work
using hydrogen? Fair Use Disclaimer

How does an Electric Car Work? Its Parts & Functions Explained

Electric cars plug into a charge point and take electricity from the grid. They store electricity in a rechargeable battery that powers an electric motor, which spins the wheels. Electric cars run faster than vehicles with conventional fuel engines – so they feel lighter to drive.

The electric motor receives energy from a controller, which controls the amount of power based on the driver's use of the accelerator pedal. Electric cars (also known as electric vehicles or EVs) use energy stored in their rechargeable batteries, which are recharged by common household electricity.

Main components of an Electric car:
1) Traction Battery Pack: An electric-vehicle battery (also known as a traction battery) is used to power an electric vehicle's motors. These batteries are usually rechargeable (secondary) and are usually lithium-ion batteries.

2) Power Inverter: An inverter converts DC electricity from sources such as batteries or fuel cells into AC electricity. Power can be at any required voltage; Specifically, it can operate AC equipment designed for mains operation or can be rectified to produce DC at the desired voltage.

3) Electric Motor: The DC motor works because, simply put, when a current is passed through the motor circuit, there is a reaction between the current in the field and the current in the armature, which causes the armature to turn. The armature and the field are connected in series, and the whole motor is referred to as a "series wound."

4) Controller: The controller's main function is to regulate electrical energy from batteries and inverters that will be distributed to electric motors. The main input to the controller is from the car's pedal. This pedal setting will determine the frequency variation or voltage variation that will enter the motor and, at the same time, determine the speed of the car.

5) DC/DC Converter: This is one of the electric car parts that convert high-voltage DC power from the traction battery pack to low-voltage DC power to drive the vehicle's accessories and recharge the auxiliary battery. Necessary for.

6) Charging port: The charge port allows the vehicle to be connected to an external power supply to charge the traction battery pack.

Top 10 CHEAPEST All NEW Electric Cars Coming In 2023(Price, Range, Features In Detail)

#ev #electriccars #electriccars2023

Are you still driving an internal combustion vehicle this year? Well, we think it's time for you to make the switch.

And if you're looking to buy one this year, then you're in for a treat! Car manufacturers worldwide are currently giving you a lot of choices that aren't so expensive.

There has never been a better moment to purchase an electric car than now, as infrastructure and charge times continue improving. In addition, major automakers are stepping up their game in an industry formerly dominated by scrappy upstarts.

If You Like This Video; Like, Share, Comment And Subscribe. This Means A Lot To Us!

Thanks For Watching Our Video; Top 10 CHEAPEST All NEW Electric Cars Coming In 2023(Price, Range, Features In Detail)

Timestamps;
00:00- Intro
01:04- Chevrolet Bolt EV
02:45- Chevrolet Bolt EUV
04:33- Nissan Leaf
05:57- Volkswagen ID 4
07:24- Hyundai Kona Electric
08:45- Chevrolet Equinox
10:25- Mini Cooper SE

Number one is the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EV.

This vehicle is an electric hatchback that comes in both compact and midsize sizes. And the Bolt EV competes with other electric cars, such as the Ford Mustang Mach-E and Tesla Model Y.

The Bolt from Chevrolet is powered by a single front-mounted engine producing 200 horsepower and 266 pound-feet of torque.

The Bolt also has a 65-kilowatt-hour battery pack and can go 259 miles on a single charge. And this car's efficiency is exceptional for an EV since it achieves more than 3.5 miles per kilowatt hour.

Now, the engine makes it relatively fast, too, with a 0-60 mph speed of less than seven seconds. The Bolt EV has room for four adults and around 57 cubic feet of storage space.

And in addition, both include an 8.0-inch digital gauge cluster and a 10.2-inch touchscreen for entertainment.

The seats are heated by default and may be cooled if desired. However, the front seats are not adequately padded or bolstered.

Moreover, every Bolt EV comes equipped with a 10.2-inch touchscreen infotainment system with valuable apps and functionality.

Also included are wireless charging for mobile devices and a WiFi hotspot that requires a paid membership.

And following two years of price drops, the Bolt EV's starting price is $25,600. Next is the 2023 Chevrolet Bolt EUV.

The Bolt EV and the Bolt EUV are nearly identical, except for the latter's bloated appearance.

They both share a tall and narrow egg-like form, a floating roofline, and a six-sided blocked-off front "grille," but they aren't structurally identical.

Meanwhile, the EUV can be viewed as a crossover due to its increased ground clearance.

All Bolt EUVs are equipped with a front-wheel-drive system and an electric motor that produces 200 horsepower. Unfortunately, all-wheel drive isn't an option.

The Bolt EUV has quick acceleration thanks to its electric powertrain. Although it might not be the fastest electric SUV on the market, it can reach 60 mph in a respectable 6.8 seconds.

Now, the interior of this car looks to be quite fashionable and well-appointed. And all versions have a flat bottom steering wheel and a push-button gear selector.

Also, the seat fabric is adorned with a sneaky geometric design.

The Bolt EUV is bigger in every dimension than the standard Bolt hatchback. As a result, the back passengers enjoy an increase of more than three inches in legroom.

Standard features include a digital gauge display and a 10.2-inch infotainment touchscreen with built-in temperature controls.

In addition, Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, Amazon Alexa, and a built-in WiFi hotspot are just a few of the various connectivity options.

And the starting pricing for the 2023 Bolt EUV is set to be $27,200.

Third on our list is the 2023 Nissan Leaf.

The 2023 Nissan Leaf EV is an example of how a product might seem good on paper but also be competitive in the actual world.

The appearance of Nissan's electric car, the LEAF, has been updated with a new grille, bumper, and lights for 2023.

Now, the Leaf is a front-wheel-drive vehicle. And the regular Nissan Leaf S is equipped with an electric motor producing 147 horsepower and a 40-kilowatt-hour battery pack.

Meanwhile, the electric motor of the Leaf SV Plus is more powerful, at 214 horsepower, and the battery is increased to 62.0 kWh.

The Leaf's cabin features a lot of black plastic, but the well-assembled and homogeneous textures keep it from seeming cheap.

The instrument cluster has both a big analog speedometer and a digital readout of up to 7 inches in size. And this can be set to display any number of different informational metrics.

This is the all-new MG4! Mat’s got his hands on this family-friendly EV, and he’s about to see if it can compete with class leaders such as the Volkswagen ID.3 and Cupra Born.

For starters, it looks great from the outside! Top-of-the-range models get a smart light bar around the back and a cool roof spoiler. What’s more, they also come with a black roof and blacked-out rear windows. There’s also a super cool front splitter up top, along with some smart daytime running lights. One thing’s for sure, this car looks much more expensive than it actually is!

The good news is, the good looks continue on the inside. There are two large separate infotainment and dial screens, and a smart two-spoke steering wheel. You’ll also find good-quality materials throughout the majority of the cabin. The infotainment system is ok, but it does also come with Android Auto & Apple CarPlay as standard.

There are two choices of batteries, with the range-topper being 61kWh. This then comes with a range of up to 281 miles, along with a 203hp motor. This car, and the entry-level, are both rear-wheel drive.

So what's the price? Well, it starts from just over £26,000! Think it sounds too good to be true? You’ll have to join Mat for this all-new review to see for yourself!

This is happening. Just a few years ago, you'd find a desultory Tesla or Chevy Bolt at our 10Best testing, usually plugged in while the rest of the vehicles cycled in and out of the lot. Now there are enough EVs to warrant their own showdown. And that happened quickly. The EV shopper can choose from pickups, SUVs, and sedans, some courtesy of entirely new companies. Charging is getting faster and easier to find, if not easier to get working. At least two new models, the Rivian R1S and Cadillac Lyriq, were launched the same week as our event. Many more are on the way.

Eventually, whether in 10 years or 20, all cars will be electrified, and staging an EV-specific contest will be like choosing the best tires made of rubber. Right now, though, we're at an inflection point—EVs are still a small fraction of the overall market, but a staggering 40 percent of the new-car launches we covered last year were for battery-powered vehicles. The momentum is building, so we figure now's the time to weigh in and prod and nudge the manufacturers to build the kind of stuff we like to drive.
